You are to pay his wages each day before sunset, because he is poor and depends on them. Otherwise he may cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin. Deuteronomy 24:15.
Pay the labor his wages before the sweat on his brows dries. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Unfortunately, for many Indian migrant workers working for a popular Indian restaurant in Vietnam, this is not occurring. Our main reason for starting the Kerala Fund is to help this group of Indian migrant workers.
Empower migrant workers
Our mission and goal is to help migrant workers break through the boundaries of social stratification. We will initially work with the Indian migrant workers mentioned in the above paragraph.
Our goals are to:
- Help the Indian migrant workers exit Vietnam legally. We will work with the proper authorities to ensure this is a simple process. This includes asking the local police to help recover their passports from the owners.
- Help the Indian migrant works recover their lost salaries, and if possible, any overtime work.
- Provide support, mentally and financially, to the Indian migrant workers after they return home.
We plan to expand our fund to include more of our targeted groups.
Current Update
Many of the Baba's Kitchen staff from the previous were forced out by the owner. These Indian staff are still owed 2-3 months salary. Vendors are still waiting to be paid.
The current Indian staff are not on legal visas, there is anxiety among the Indian staff on what will happen when Immigration and DoLISA find out.
